This painting is about the musical relationship. When we listen to the music we love, it seems effortless. But ask any musician and they'll tell you – it's hard work. But it pays. When it's right, the environment recedes. There is no background. There is no context.

Where does the need to individuate come from? From whom are we individuating? Are we certain we could look into the maelstrom of our unique humanity and emerge with a pleasant tale to tell?
Another day . . . another shot . . . another gig . . . another buck.
I tried to capture the movement between the four seasons, how they turn on and turn off different parts of us . . . for better or for worse.
The great musicians have transcended the technocracy of theory and formula. They have intuited with their hearts and mind what is truly awesome.

"Fishing" is about the diminishing effects words can have on feelings. A feeling that seems limitless in size and scope while it's inside, but somehow impossibly quantified when it's brought out.
Memories are fickle things . . . exposed to the present. Sometimes desaturated by its tawdry hues, and sometimes, when life is good, they're embellished by its glittering prospects. But rarely are they what they really were.
Dinner is always a wild time. Who gets to sit where, who gets to talk first. The slightest imbalance could send everything flying. Literally.
